The Sacred Heart church in Roscommon was the setting for Emma & Damien’s ceremony; it has one of the most beautifully decorated altars (Tip for brides: a highly decorative alter means less flowers needed). It was a beautifully personal ceremony with music from one of the very talented groomsmen, a lot of giggles (mostly from the lads) and a true GAA guard of honour from Damien’s football team. Not a man for the photos, Damien put up with me for a quick stint down at Lough Key Forest Park and posed like a pro, then it was off to Imelda and the team at the Landmark Hotel. The night, as always, was capped off with some true country swing (I need to learn) but not before the best man read one of the most inventive speeches I’ve ever heard, using a mock diary to recount Damien and Emma’s first meet; all done in Damien’s “own words”. One of the best speeches I’ve ever heard.
